What are your favorite names? What names did you give your children, or do you plan to give your future children? What do you wish your brother had named his kids instead of what he did? Curious as to your leanings... do share!

Notes on the Top Ten

It should be noted that California's top names are slightly different than the names country-wide. See for yourself:

National Top 10 Names for 2006:

Jacob Emily
Michael Emma
Joshua Madison
Ethan Isabella
Matthew Ava
Daniel Abigail
Christopher Olivia
Andrew Hannah
Anthony Sophia
William Samantha

California Top 5 Names for 2006:

Daniel Emily
Anthony Isabella
Angel Ashley
Jacob Mia
David Samantha

It is also interesting that in August, taken from all babies born in Sacramento, the most popular name did not appear on the top 5 of 2006 list. Though, the top performers of the national list were Joshua and Sophia, with 6 babies each. What was the top name you ask? (Drumroll please...) Jayden. Though the spelling varies between names, their were nearly twice as many Jaydens born as Joshuas or Sophias... 11 babies.
